Me and the RaspberryPi /3
Today I could get my hands on the printed parts of my Raspberry Pi case.
When I opened the packaging I noticed that the two halves of the box was already assembled and the case was closed. Good.
These are some photo of the real case:
The material of the case is White, Strong & Flexible, while the lightguides are in Frosted Ultra Detail. I made also a version of the light-guides in Frosted Detail, but it’s not as good as the other, that is a bit more expensive.
The snap fits seems to work well, and the lightguides fit well onto their holes. At this stage of the project the lightguides are intended to be simply glued to the upper part of the case.
The next step will be to assembly the case with the board to verify dimension and position of the apertures. Stay tuned! 😉

Non hai pensato magari di aggiungere un paio di “asole” sul retro? ..nel caso uno volesse appenderlo o avvitarlo, sarebbero davvero utili!
Bel lavoro comunque.

€40.00 for a case – for a pcb costing £35….. ?????
It has to be less than € 10.00 to be attractive 🙂

I’d like it to be cheaper, but 3D printing doesn’t allow. My wish is to see it injection moulded.

Will you publish it on Thingiverse for the people who can print at home?

Why the square holes on the bottom along the edges? (Just wondering.)
"Mi piace""Mi piace"
If produced by injection molding, that’s the places for punches that make the upper surfaces.

Per le usb “sporgenti” hai pensato a qualche cosa?
"Mi piace""Mi piace"
Will it be available in colours other than white?
"Mi piace""Mi piace"
The same material is also available (but a bit more expensive than white) in black, red, indigo and dark gray. I also will let the user choose transparent materials (Transparent Detail and FrostedDetail/Ultra Detail), while I will keep hidden metallic and ceramic materials.

Very good job !

Aproximately, how much will this case cost?
"Mi piace""Mi piace"
It should be less than 40 € (tax and shipment excluded).

It’s an useful case, when do you think it will be available to buy?
Thank you

As soon as I can test it on a real Raspberry Pi board.

It is good to see that this is progressing so well.
All you need now is an actual ‘board’ to ensure that everything lines up correctly!
