Info – About

My name is Marco Alici, I was born (in 1971) and live in Italy.

In 2001 I graduated in Mechanical Engineering  at the University of Perugia, with a dissertation about Structural Optimization of truck trailers. Since then I have always worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer in Italian companies.

In 2002 I married Emanuela and we have 2 children.

Among the various hobbies, often caused by incurable curiosity for the world and things, the most attractive for me nowadays are computer science, computer graphics and photography.

Computer enthusiast since my childhood, when I was given a Commodore 16, in the years of university I discovered Linux and I got enthusiastic about Free Software and Open Source, at first as simple user and then as a supporter; I am a member of Fermo Linux Users Group, where currently I am Vice President.

As an effect of the passion for computers, and as a necessity at work, the passion for computer graphics grew, expecially after I knew Blender, a three-dimensional modeling and rendering program, as well as Yafaray (formerly YafRay), a realistic rendering engine for Blender.

I actually  met photography in the late ’90s, as soon as I purchased my first SLR camera, a Zenit 122, then I experimented black and white development and printing, and finally I landed to digital photography, that I appreciate especially for its convenience.
