3D printed feeder adapter

The problem

I’ve planned to spend a week out (Sicily, my beloved!) next holidays. Since January I have an aquarium to take care of, and nobody to entrust it. So I decided to buy an automatic feeder. But I made a mistake: I didn’t buy the precise model that would fit the housing in my aquarium cover. Although the one I bought is better (has a timer and a display where to easily choose two feeding times) and cheaper, it is bigger than the other and doesn’t fit the housing.

The solution

I decided to design an adapter to be 3D printed by my Reprap Huxley.

I could use a sophisticated CAD software, but the simple shape suggested that I could seize the opportunity to train my OpenSCAD skills.

After getting the main dimensions of the housing, I made this model in openSCAD.

Then I exported in STL and sliced it using Slic3r 0.9.9.

I feeded my Huxley with the .gcode I got from Slic3r, and… here is the result. The feeder is fixed to the adapter through the adhesive Velcro™ included in the box.
