Me and the RaspberryPi /1
As soon as I came into contact with the RaspberriPi project I thought that:
- I’d like to have one as soon as possible;
- I’d like to give it an attractive case.
While looking around for informations about dimensions and position of the components I realized that:
- a good 3D model (STEP, IGES or other similar format) would have been the better starting point to design a case;
- there was only a SketchUp model available, but it’s a mesh, not very useful with CAD softwares, the best tools for this purpose.
So I decided to build my own 3D model: I created a simple rectangular PCB and I populated it with some 3D components I freely downloaded from manufacturers websites.
Maybe it’s not perfectly equal to the real device (that I’ve never seen directly yet), but maybe it could be a good starting point.
The STEP file can be download from here (RaspberryPi_B_02.stp.zip, 937.4 kB).
Edit: I updated the STEP model file changing the RCA video connector according to the information I got (the axis position is not as far as audio jack axis from PCB).
